St. Patrick’s, Catholic Soc. Services making plans for thrift store PDF Print E-mail

Now that St. Patrick’s new hall is in use, plans are underway for the church’s Friendship Hall, located just north of the new building at 742 Broadway. Fr. Bernard Lorenz, pastor, said plans are developing for a thrift store to be temporarily located at the old hall, a project of the church with financial support from Catholic Social Services. Starting a permanent site for a thrift store in western Nebraska has long been a dream of Catholic Social Services, according to its director Fr. Christopher Kubat of Lincoln. According to Fr. Lorenz, the thrift store here will sell donated furniture, appliances and possibly additional household items, all at  a minimal charge. All proceeds after expenses will be used to assist struggling families and individuals in this area. During the past week, Fr. Lorenz, at left, and parishioners opened up some of the rooms in the upstairs portion of the building to create a larger, more open area. It is hoped the thrift store will be open by the first of next year. (Republican and courtesy photos)
