Charges of vehicular homicide filed in death of Elsie woman PDF Print E-mail

Charges have been filed in Perkins County Court against Benjamin J. Pelster, 32, of rural Elsie for motor vehicle homicide, a Class I misdemeanor, in the death of 28-year-old Debra Palser of Elsie.
The accident occurred at approximately 2:45 p.m. July 13, two-and-a-half miles east of Elsie when Palser’s vehicle, which was traveling west on Highway 23, was struck by a farm sprayer driven by Pelster as it entered the highway from the north.
Palser was pronounced dead at the scene. Two passengers, Palser’s  six-month-old son and her adult cousin, were transported to the hospital in Grant.
Pelster was to be arraigned on Wednesday, Nov. 18, at 9 a.m. in Perkins County Court.
If convicted, the defendant faces a maximum of one year in jail, a $1,000 fine, or both.
