Two men from Imperial were injured in an early Sunday morning accident in Perkins County.
Will Morales, 24, and Cody Wooden, 25, both sustained injuries in the accident, about a mile west of Grainton on Highway 23.
Perkins County Sheriff Jim Brueggeman said his office received the call at 2:45 a.m. Sunday, which was reported by a newspaper delivery person who came up on the one-vehicle accident.
It remains unclear as to who was driving the westbound 2007 Chevy Silverado pickup registered to Cody and Alvin Wooden, Sheriff Brueggeman said.
Both men were ejected from the pickup after it veered off the road and rolled, apparently after the driver over-corrected, Sheriff Brueggeman added. Neither of the occupants were wearing seat belts.
Two Perkins County ambulances transported them to Perkins County Hospital. Morales, who sustained serious back injuries, was transferred later that morning to Great Plains Medical Center in North Platte.
According to Sheriff Brueggeman’s report, Wooden was up walking at the scene of the accident.
The accident remains under investigation to determine who was driving. The office is also awaiting the results of blood alcohol tests, Sheriff Brueggeman said.
