Nebraska soldiers at Fort Hood safe from shooting PDF Print E-mail

A Nebraska National Guard spokesman says Nebraska soldiers stationed at Fort Hood, Texas, have been accounted for after last week’s deadly shooting.
Lt. Col. Bob Vrana told the Associated Press the 70 members of the Guard’s Lincoln-based 313th Medical Company weren’t among the 13 people killed or more than two dozen wounded last Thursday.
Wauneta native Dena Engel, daughter of Robin and Aneta Engel, is stationed at Fort Hood with the 313th.
Dena called her family immediately after the shooting incident to let them know she was okay.
“She knew if we heard about it on the news first we would be worried about her,” said Aneta.
The 313th Medical Company was sent to Fort Hood for training before their upcoming deployment to Iraq on Nov. 17.
