No arts council season planned

The Chase County Area Arts Council (CCAAC) will not present a season of programs this year for a number of reasons.
Board member Janet Sheaffer, who has put together the schedule of programs for the past several years, was out of town this past summer, and said no one else took care of the lineup.
She also noted that there were only 20 people attending the last arts council event, and attendance at other programs has been poor.
There is no board president, Sheaffer said, adding that there is not a full slate of board members either.
Sheaffer said she would be contacting those board members still serving to set up a meeting to discuss the future of CCAAC.
“I’m not saying we’re done,” she said. “Maybe we need to have a different focus. We’re at a standstill on what we can do to get people involved. Whatever we’ve done doesn’t seem to have made a difference,” she said
Sheaffer said a meeting date to discuss the future of CCAAC will be announced.
CCAAC was established in August, 1980.
