People don’t even have to be basketball fans to enjoy the fun, antics and talent on display by the Harlem Ambassadors.
They’ll be coming to Imperial Saturday night to take on a team of Imperial’s “Has Beens.” The event will begin at 7 p.m. MT in the CCS gymnasium.
Alex McNair, coach for the Has Beens, said he may have a few tricks of his own for the Ambassadors.
McNair has assembled a team that includes a couple of “ringers” who he hopes will allow them to be competitive.
While the evening will be all about fun, McNair said he’s hoping his team can just stay within 30 of the Ambassadors.
His roster includes himself, Will Morales, Brian “Slim” Strand, Sam McNair, Jarrett Finley, Jared Rentschler, Derek Russell, Matt Hanna, Carl Zuege, Kurt Mann, Marc Mrozcek, Mike Liewer, Nathan Vitosh, Ryan Wisnieski and Dan Lenners.
Saturday’s game will feature at least two quarters of competitive action when the Has Beens get to show their stuff.
The other two quarters will be reserved for plenty of antics, showmanship and fun by the Ambassadors.
Expect high-flying slam dunks, dazzling ball-handling tricks and hilarious comedy routines throughout the evening.
The event is being sponsored by the Imperial Chamber of Commerce. All proceeds after expenses will go to Chase County Schools.
The internationally-acclaimed Harlem Ambassadors offer a unique brand of Harlem-style basketball.
They feature non-stop laughs and deliver a positive message aimed especially at kids.
Coach Ladè Majic said they bring important messages to kids—stay drug free and stay in school.
Kids can expect some special treatment and will get to be involved in the fun throughout the evening.
The Ambassadors have worked extensively with organizations in communities throughout the U.S., and perform more than 200 shows a year.
Tickets will be available at the door. Cost for adults is $5 and $3 for students. Kids four and under are free.
Advance tickets are available at Pinnacle Bank, Adams Drug, McNair Agency, Fine Things Jewelry and Gifts and Imperial city office.
