Interest solicited in pep or concert band

The instrumental music department at Chase County Schools wants to find out if adults in Imperial are interested in forming a community pep or concert band.
Band Director Richard Munson said interest has been expressed by some people about a concert band, such as North Platte’s orchestra. “There are a lot of people out there who play instruments,” he noted.
Or, he wonders if there are people interested in forming a pep band to play at school events. Munson said there are only eight students in the high school band this year, making a pep band almost impossible.
There are a total of 70 students in the combined junior high-high school instrumental program, Munson added.
“It would be a lot of fun to dust off your instrument and brush up on those forgotten notes,” he said.
Depending upon the response he receives regarding pep versus concert band, practices could be held in early morning or evenings.
Those interested may contact Munson at (308) 882-4304 at school or at (308) 882-5494 at home.
