Ten new units for storing boats and recreational vehicles were opened at Fifth Street Storage on Aug. 1. They are already full, according to co-owner Bill Brophy.
That brings to 48 the number of units at the storage facility, ranging from small to the new largest ones.
Five of the new units are 20x40 feet, while five are 20x50 feet. They all have gravel floors.
“We had a waiting list over the last two years for our larger units,” Brophy noted, “so decided to go ahead and build new ones.”
Fifth Street Storage received a variance from the City of Imperial to build the new structure, which is south of the existing units. The new building is eight feet from the platted alley on the south end of the business.
Fifth Street Storage is owned by Bill and Julie Brophy, Ben Brophy and Lloyd and Rhonda Smith. It was opened Aug. 1, 2007.
