Jannie M. Larson, 51, of Wray, Colo., was killed in a one-vehicle rollover late Saturday afternoon, just south of the Chase County line in Dundy County.
According to the Nebraska State Patrol report, Larson was southbound on Road 320, about 12 miles south and 12 miles west of Imperial, when she apparently lost control on the gravel road. She had just crossed into Dundy County.
The passenger vehicle rolled into the west ditch. Larson was not wearing a seat belt and was partially ejected, according to the report.
Larson was a former employee at the Imperial Parkview/Heights senior care facilities, working as an LPN from July, 2007, until April, 2008.
She was currently employed in Wray at the Hillcrest Care Center & The Towers.
Kathy Anderson, administrator at Imperial’s senior care facilities, said Jannie was popular with the residents when she worked there.
“They really liked her,” she said.
She often brought her dog to the facilities for the residents to enjoy. Her dog was with her in the vehicle Saturday, and was also killed.
The Imperial EMS and Imperial Volunteer Fire Department (IVFD) responded to the scene at 5:20 p.m. The State Patrol was summoned at 5:57 p.m., and Patrolman Jeff Van Stelton responded.
The Chase County Sheriff’s Office also sent a deputy to the scene, not knowing at the time in which county the accident occurred. Once discovered it was a Dundy County accident, the deputy stood by until the Dundy County Sheriff arrived.
Jannie was an Australian citizen. Her son and his wife, and Jannie’s two daughters, all of Australia, are expected to be in Imperial this week to finalize arrangements with Liewer Funeral Home.
