Sponsored by Chase County Community Hospital, this year’s 3K walk in Imperial is called “Moving Forward With Hope—ALL Cancer Walk.” It will be held Oct. 3 beginning at Chase County Schools.
Organizers emphasize that the walk recognizes all survivors, and is in memory of, all persons who have had any form of cancer. In the past it has recognized breast cancer survivors.
Registration begins at 9 a.m. at the school, with the walk beginning at about 9:30 a.m. The walk may be made inside the school or on a planned route through town.
Registration is $10 prior to the walk and $15 the day of the event for those over age 10. Forms are available at Chase County Clinic or the hospital. Pledges are encouraged but not required to walk.
All proceeds will stay in Chase County to benefit cancer patients in need and their families.
Following the walk a lunch, which is included in the registration, will be served, and door prizes will be awarded.
Speakers include Dr. Jonathan Richman, Stephanie Williams and Stacy Leibhart.
In addition, winners of a raffle for quilts, blankets and other items will be announced at 11 a.m. Raffle tickets are now on sale at area sporting events. Tickets may be purchased for $1 or six for $5.
One of the organizers, Leibhart, said she hopes to draw at least 110 people to the walk.
Questions may be referred to Leibhart at 882-7240, Williams at 394-5603 or Vicki Buffington at 882-2224.
