Forage meeting here set for Aug. 24 PDF Print E-mail

Forage cropping choices and the economics of forage will be the subject of a meeting Aug. 24, 1 pm at the Imperial Public Library.
Specific topics include choosing forages, alfalfa stand assessment, establishing new alfalfa stands and forage economics. A topic is also included that will cover forages and beef cow nutrition.
Jerry Volesky, Range and Forage Systems Specialist UNL, will discuss several topics. These include assessing alfalfa stands and best practices for establishing alfalfa. He will also discuss choosing forages after wheat and choosing the best adapted forages for southwest Nebraska.
Robert Tigner, SW4 Extension Educator, will cover forage economics with reference to marketing forage and costs of producing your own forage supply.
Aaron Stalker, Beef Range Systems Specialist at UNL, will discuss forages and beef mineral nutrition.
