Fairgrounds turned into Oasis for Chuck Wagon Steak Supper PDF Print E-mail

Fair supporters gathered Friday night at the open air auditorium at Chase County Fairgrounds to celebrate the beginning of the fair. Individuals, organizations, businesses and fair board members mingled under “palm trees” designed from pine trees, and ordered margaritas from Colleen Mumford (above) in her grass hut. Cowboy Catering of Benkelman served the steak dinner, with accompanying sides and cobblers baked in cast iron skillets below left. Nichole Sis of Benkelman provided entertainment with a wide variety of songs. Other entertainment included a contest as to which man wore the best Hawaiian shirt  and which woman had the cutest flip flops. Mumford won the womens’ contest, while Orville Green, Jr., bottom photo in cowboy hat, won the mens’ contest. (Republican photos)
