Incoming kindergartners 'learn the ropes' at visitation day

Thirty-five incoming kindergartners at Chase County Schools got a taste of what their first year in school will be like during a kindergarten visitation day Monday. The prospective kindergartners for 2008-09 spent most of the school day in what Elementary Principal Mike Wentz said would be fairly close to a normal day of kindergarten. They took part in a number of classroom activities with teachers Connie Pribbeno, Arlys Cupp and Nancy Sorensen, which also included lunch and recess. Principal Wentz said the day also provided the staff with a chance to see where the youngsters are in their knowledge of numbers and the alphabet, and how they do socially with others. Chase County Schools anticipates a kindergarten class of just over 40 students next year. (Republican photos)
