Nebraska State Fair education awards garner impressive results for Chase County youths

The Nebraska State Fair was Aug. 24 to Sept. 3. Chase County Schools had a large number of students participate in the education division, said Arlys Cupp, CCS second grade teacher and student coordinator for CCS fair entries.
There were many different categories available to Nebraska students to enter, as well as on site competitions, she said.
“The NEBRASKAland Foundation provides plaques, rosettes, ribbons, trophies, medals and scholarship funds for the students that participate,” said Cupp.
The awards given in each division of the education competitions are: 1st place-$100, scholarship, plaque, rosette and T-shirt; 2nd place-$50, scholarship, plaque, rosette and T-shirt; 3rd place-$25, scholarship, rosette and T-shirt; 4th-6th places-rosettes and T-shirts; 7th-10th places-ribbons and T-shirts and honorable mention winners receive ribbons and T-shirts at the judge’s discretion.
The scholarships awarded are payable to the college of the student’s choice after graduation from high school, Cupp said.
Sweepstake winners were invited to attend and be honored on Statehood Day, March 1, 2019, at the State Capital for Nebraska’a 152nd birthday.
The following are the top winners from CCS in their divisions from the 2017-2018 school year.
