Energetic kindergarten educator retiring

    By Carolyn Lee
    The Imperial Republican
She "doesn't have a clue" as to how many years she's taught kindergarten, but Connie Pribbeno has influenced years of students. They still seek her out at the grocery store or school.
She has also taught the children of former students.
Although Pribbeno, 53, began teaching at Champion Grade School in 1977, the reason she doesn't know how many years she's taught is because she took about five years off while having children, taught half-days for a number of years, and quit teaching due to reduction-in-force (RIF) once or twice.

Incoming kindergartners 'learn the ropes' at visitation day

Thirty-five incoming kindergartners at Chase County Schools got a taste of what their first year in school will be like during a kindergarten visitation day Monday. The prospective kindergartners for 2008-09 spent most of the school day in what Elementary Principal Mike Wentz said would be fairly close to a normal day of kindergarten. They took part in a number of classroom activities with teachers Connie Pribbeno, Arlys Cupp and Nancy Sorensen, which also included lunch and recess. Above, Cole Jensen enjoys getting up close to this bunny for a photo in Mrs. Pribbeno's room. Principal Wentz said the day also provided the staff with a chance to see where the youngsters are in their knowledge of numbers and the alphabet, and how they do socially with others. Chase County Schools anticipates a kindergarten class of just over 40 students next year. (Republican photos)
